I had been questioning the point of what I'm doing here (on Earth, yes) since Thursday. If I were to be honest, I'd say I have nothing to look forward to. I know that sounds ungrateful, but that's how I had been feeling these days. And I somewhat doubt any explanation would make people who haven't experienced this sense of helplessness understand. Heck, even my body was starting to give up. (My body is sensitive to stress; if I don't get to release negative emotions, I get feverish or have an upset stomach). I was fatigued last Thursday and Friday; I had an upset stomach Saturday morning.
But enough of that. This post wasn't meant to be a complaint. I just had to get that out there. I used the past perfect progressive for a reason.
So I spent my weekend making exams, reading assigned novels, and checking essays. That last activity made my mood turn a hundred and forty degrees. Why that number? Because my current mood isn't exactly the polar opposite of the previous one, but it's getting there.
My being a sucker for well-written and well-thought out essays is the chauffeur causing this u-turn. Whose mood wouldn't change once he/she reads things like these?
Being able to question one's own beliefs is harder to do than to question other people's. Because we don't know exactly what foundations lie under someone else's beliefs, it is easier to not be as accepting of their thoughts as we are of our own. We accept our own and trust ourselves more easily because our ideas have always been there, in our minds, and we don't feel the need to question their basis. To become better critical thinkers and problem solvers, we need to be able to view ourselves through other's eyes and to question ourselves the way we would another person.
The problem is that I am harsh on myself, so that sometimes translates to other people without my meaning to. :/
And this:
In my opinion, i am a critical thinker who just started to be. Although being a critical thinker is one of the hard tasks, Lao Tzu said, "A journey of thousand miles must begin with a single step." Now I dare to take my first step to be a critical thinker to a journey even people who are smarter than me gave up. I believe one step would make a big difference to accomplish the goal, being a matured critical thinker, because I always believed the courage to take first step already accomplish the half of my task (from Korea). Therefore, I believe I would be able to achieve it without any questions to my dream.
I'm pretty sure they could do well even without my help, though.
